about the Coach...

Head Coach Aaron Junta is entering his second year as the cross country
and track and field coach for the Knights. Aaron has acquired a
reputation of building up track and field and cross country programs in
Southern California. Aaron came from East Los Angeles College where
he spent 2 years as the head track and field and cross country coach. As a
part-time coach, Junta led a successful cross country program that finished
second in the state and had Oscar Ogwaro capture the individual state title.
The men's track program has finished fourth in Southern California the last
two years and finished 5th in state in 2007. Aaron also served as the head
coach of Irvine Valley College in Irvine from 1999-2002 before becoming an
assistant coach at Santiago Canyon College in Orange for two seasons.
Junta’s men’s team at Irvine Valley college finished 15th at the state meet.
Junta also helped build the Santiago Canyon’s Men’s cross country team
into a 3rd place finish at the state championships. Junta's goals include
building numbers at Shasta and then focusing on becoming an annual
Northern California contender. A graduate of Long Beach State where he
was an All-Big West Conference long-jumper and triple-jumper, Coach Junta
earned is Bachelors of Arts and Masters of Science in Kinesiology. In addition
to his education, Coach Junta has his level II certified through USA Track and
Field in the Endurance, Jumps, Sprints, and Hurdle Events. Coach Junta is
also a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the National
Strength
and Conditioning Association. In his spare time Aaron enjoys being active, including participating in activities such as hiking, skiing,
and water sports.
