SHASTA SWIMMING 2008

Season Outlook

Full Slate in ‘08

This is the first time the men’s team has had a full roster since Wagner has taken the helm. Tyler Williams is the only returnee for the men’s squad. Tyler will provide leadership for the group of freshmen added this year. These freshmen are full of talented young men with potential. Arlen Pedersen, Tyler Mansfield, Tyler Jaggers, Trey August and Jacob Kulyn are great assets to the team this year. Pedersen's speed will be his talent to the squad this year. Jaggers’ butterfly and his “go for it” spirit will be the key for the guys. The Mansfield and August duo added some great depth in the breaststroke rank. These guys will push each other all year. Kulyn will add some distance for the squad, swimming the longer races. Newcomers, Adrian Winter, Josh Cannan, and Kurt Randall, have shown great improvement and their enthusiastic attitude creates a positive chemistry for the squad. Adrian will be swimming backstroke and sprints for the Knights. Josh will be swimming mid-distance events throughout the season. Kurt will be swimming any and all the
freestyle events throughout the season.

The women have Mikey Eustance, team record holder in three events: Bay Valley Champion and State Finalist in both the 50 and 100 Backstrokes. Sharing her time with softball, Eustance also is a pitcher and a key member of the Lady Knights’ Softball Team. She is a remarkable athlete. Liz Piffero is also a returnee who adds depth in the breaststroke event and will provide leadership for the new members of the squad. Freshman, Kacy Wiley, breaststroker and IM’er, has added speed to this year’s Lady Knights. Newcomer Christina Monterrubio has added a spark due to her fiery spirit. Christina will be swimming sprint and mid-distance. Gem Larson is improving daily, a well rounded swimmer that will take a utility role on the squad. Natasha Ott will be swimming and specializing in the backstroke
events this year.

We will look to grow as a squad and develop each athlete to the best of their potential. This year the staff is excited for the athletes and we look forward to working with each member of the squad. The staff is also dedicated to recapturing the ‘Sword Award’ in ’08.
