About the Coaches..

Head Coach
Aaron Junta
Head Coach Aaron Junta is entering his first year as the cross country
and track and field coach for the Knights. Aaron has acquired a
reputation of building up track and field and cross country programs in
Southern California. Aaron came from East Los Angeles College where
he spent 2 years as the head track and field and cross country coach. As a
part-time coach, Junta led a successful cross country program that finished
second in the state and had Oscar Ogwaro capture the individual state title.
The men's track program has finished fourth in Southern California the last
two years and finished 5th in state in 2007. Coach Junta was named 2007 State Track and Field Coach of the Year. Aaron also served as the head
coach of Irvine Valley College in Irvine from 1999-2002 before becoming an
assistant coach at Santiago Canyon College in Orange for two seasons.
Junta’s men’s team at Irvine Valley college finished 15th at the state meet.
Junta also helped build the Santiago Canyon’s Men’s cross country team
into a 3rd place finish at the state championships. Junta's goals include
building numbers at Shasta and then focusing on becoming an annual
Northern California contender. A graduate of Long Beach State where he
was an All-Big West Conference long-jumper and triple-jumper, Coach Junta
earned is Bachelors of Arts and Masters of Science in Kinesiology. In addition
to his education, Coach Junta has his level II certified through USA Track and
Field in the Endurance, Jumps, Sprints, and Hurdle Events. Coach Junta is
also a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the National
Strength
and Conditioning Association. In his spare time Aaron enjoys being active, including participating in activities such as hiking, skiing,
and water sports.

Assistant Coach
Kirk Ramage
Kirk just finished his 2 nd year as the throws coach at Shasta College. Widely considered one of the best throws coach in Northern California, Kirk had six throwers qualify of the state Track and Field Championships, including Matt Jarvis who was the state champion in the shot put. Kirk grew up in the Redding area, attended Shasta High School, Shasta College, and eventually graduated from Chico State with a BA in Physical Education. For the past 11 years Kirk has been coaching Varsity Football as well as Track and Field at Shasta High School. He is married to his wonderful wife, Charlotte, for 16 years and they have two sons, Wyatt who is 4 and Cody who is 13.

Pete Giachetti

Assistant Coach Pete Giachetti is entering his sixth season as a track coach for the Knights. Pete was the Head Track Coach his first five seasons with the Knights. Pete started coaching cross country in 1961 at South San Francisco High School. He received his A.A. degree from City College of San Francisco in 1964. While at CCSF Pete competed in both cross country and track. He received his BA from San Francisco State College in 1967. Pete took over as head cross country and track coach at South City High, where his boys teams won five consecutive North Peninsula League championships with a 59 consecutive dual meet winning streak. While at South City Giachetti started both a CIF track program and a CIF cross country program for girls. In 1981 made the move to the North State where he started coaching several sports at Fall River High School. From 1981 to 1992 his girls cross country and track teams won many Shasta Cascade League and AA championships. During his stay at FRHS he guided over 15 individuals and one team to state level competition including Shasta College standout Erin McClung. Pete was selected as the North Section Girls Honor Coach in 1991. He then went to Burney High School in 1994, where he coached track and volleyball. Pete is currently coaching the Raiders volleyball team in the fall. In his first season coaching at Shasta College the Lady Knights won the GVC Championship! Pete has also served on track and cross country committees in both the Central Coast Section and the North Section. Coach Giachetti was a national and international race walker and steeple chaser from 1992 to 1996. Pete has been married for 36 years to his wife Pam and they live in Burney.
Pete and Pam have two grown daughters, Gina and Lisa.

Assistant Coach
Jake Golenor

Assistant Coach Jake Golenor will be helping out in throws this year. Jake has a wealth of experience and was an accomplished thrower himself. He is a graduate of Foothill High School and Brown University. Jake, a co-captain at Brown, has a personal best of 170-6 in the discus and 55 feet ¼ in the shot put. We are very pleased to add Jake to our coaching staff this season.

Assistant Coach
Trevor Papps

Trevor grew up in Pleasant Hill were he competed in scholastically
at College Park High School.  He went on to compete in college as a pole vaulter and decathlete for CSU-Chico and Diablo Valley College. 
Some of his Trevor's accomplishments are;
·        Division II All American in the Pole Vault with a best mark of 17-1 ½.
·        Division II All-American in the decathlon. 
·        CSU-Chico record holder in the decathlon with a best mark of 7,284 pts.

Trevor, who earned a degree in physcial education, will coach the pole vault, hurdles and multi-event athletes.  Trevor resides in Redding and it married to his wife Abbey who was hepthatlete who was NCAA qualifier herself
at CSU-Chico.
