Season Over at Yuba
SECOND STRAIGHT LOSS TO YUBA
(11/20/01-Marysville) Having played Yuba College in Marysville last week, the Knights thought that they were prepared to play them again in the first round of the state playoffs this week . With Yuba College knocking the Knights out in three straight, it looks like Yuba was the team that was prepared. The 49ers knocked the Knights out of the playoffs winning 30-24, 30-26 & 30-24. Vanessa Otter and Sephora Scoubes both had 11 kills to lead the Knights while Rachel Vrismo added 6 kills. Amanda Rubert had 28 assists. The Lady Knights end the season with a 15-6 record.
Ready for the Play-offs?

Knights Roll Feather River
LONG TRIP TO QUINCY
(11/3/01-Quincy) The Lady Knights volleyball team did not let the long bus ride to Quincy affect their game. They started fast and finished strong winning 30-18, 30-11 & 30-9 against Feather River College. Vanessa Otter led the Knights with 7 kills and 26 assists. Sephora Scoubes, Sarah Taylor and Rachel Vrismo each added 6 kills with Sarah Taylor chipping in with 4 blocks.
Long Road to Santa Rosa
BIG GVC MATCH SATURDAY

Sierra No Match
TUNE-UP FOR SATURDAY AGAINST BUTTE
(10/22/01-Shasta College) The Lady Knights volleyball team was looking for some competition from Sierra College. Sephora Scoubes again led the 10-3 Knights with 10 kills followed by Vanessa Otter with 9 kills and Sarah Taylor had 8. Amanda Rubert pitched in with 27 assists.
Tough Match in Eureka
KNIGHTS WIN IT IN FIVE
(10/20/01-Eureka) The Lady Knights knew that going to Eureka would be a long bus ride. They also knew that College of the Redwoods was an improving team. Both of those points were factors in the Knight's come from behind 5 set win. The match started easy for Shasta with a 30-19 first game win. Things got a little tougher when Shasta lost games 2 and 3, 25-30 & 23-30. To be considered a good team the Knights needed to mount a comeback. That was exactly what they did in winning games 4 & 5, 30-18 & 21-19 to pull out the match. Sephora Scoubes led the Knights with 14 kills, while Sarah Taylor and Vanessa Otter each had 11 kills. Sarah Taylor also added 5 blocks. Amanda Rubert racked up 38 assists and Jessica Ward had 31 digs for the
9-3 Knights.

Feather River No Match
FIRST HOME MATCH IN A MONTH!
(10/13/01-Shasta College) Playing their first home match in a month the Lady Knights wasted no energy in beating Feather River College on Saturday. Unusual Position
CONFERENCE CHAMPS 21 TIMES IN 25 YEARS!
(10/6/01-Oroville) The Lady Knights' volleyball team is in a very unusual position; they are not in first place. An early league showdown with their rivals from Oroville found the Lady Knights on the short end of a 5 game match. The Knights had some momentum after winning the 4th game but got edged out in the fifth game losing to Butte College 22-30, 33-31, 20-30, 34-32 & 13-15. In the exciting fifth game the Knights had a chance to take the lead with the score tied at 13-13. They had the serve but they were unable to capitalize. That starts the Knights out 1-1 in league play with 8 matches to go. That also starts the Knights out in second place - something that hasn't happened too often to the Knights, the reigning Golden Valley Conference power. The Knights have won 21 championships in the last 25 seasons. Despite an injured wrist, Jessica Ward had a good match for the Knights. She led the defense with 14 digs. Vanessa Otter led the Knights with 14 kills while Sarah Taylor added 12 and Sephora Scoubes chipped in with 11. Amanda Rubert got the offense going with 28 assists. Shasta is 6-3 on the season. The Knights have now circled October 27th on their calendars. That is the date for the rematch with the Roadrunners in Shasta's gym.
Conference Opening Rout
RUBERT & OTTER LEAD THE WAY
(10/5/01-Susanville) It never hurts to get the longest league road trip out of the way with a victory. That is exactly what the Knights did in their Golden Valley Conference opener with a 30-20, 30-18 & 30-19 rout over the Lassen Cougars. Leading the Knights in Susanville were setter, Amanda Rubert, and outside hitter, Vanessa Otter. Amanda had her usually steady game with 25 assists and Vanessa also had her "A" game adding 11 kills. Also contributing to the victory were Kelly Comer who had 10 digs and Sarah Taylor added eight kills as the Knights improved to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in GVC play.

Knights Win ARC Tourney

NEXT HOME MATCH NOT UNTIL OCTOBER 13th
(9/13/01-Shasta College) The Lady Knights (3-1) do not play at home again until October. That fact did not matter in a three game drubbing of Walla Walla College from Washington.
