Season Outlook
"Young and Talented"

2007 brings many new faces to the Knights Volleyball team. A lone
sophomore, middle blocker Bethany Curran, will lead the team as
captain, and as a returning starter from the 2006 undefeated Golden
Valley Conference Champions. Even with many new faces, expectations
are high for the Knights, due to the abundance of talent in the freshman
class. Vying for the critical position of setter are Ashley Webster, a redshirt transfer from Southern Oregon University and all-league player from Del
Norte HS, Brynn Ross, a Red Bluff HS starter, and Ashley Adams, a
Shasta HS product who can also play a role on defense. Offensively,
the Knights look very deep, with a number of athletic players with
explosive jumping and spiking ability. Expected to lead this group is
Kelsey McGee, a 3-year varsity player at Foothill HS and outside hitter
for the Shasta Creations Club program. Kelsey has already shown her
potential with an outstanding performance of 10 kills in one scrimmage
game against Simpson University on August 25 th. Also contributing to
the Knights offense are outside and right side hitters Alexis Han, Bishop
Quinn HS, Megan Thompson, Modoc HS, Alisha Northrup, Modoc HS,
Aqueela Zoll, Shasta HS, and Daniele Werthmann, who may also play
as the libero. Daniele’s powerful jump serve will also help with the
Knight’s offense. Coming in to fill the middle blocking/hitting position
are Danielle Nance, Redding Christian HS and Caitlyn Canale, Southern
Trinity HS. With height and power, they are expected to be strong
contributors in that critical position. Adding to the depth on defense is
Kaori Miura, who hails from Japan and shows strong technical skills.

Although young, this group of athletes is talented, dynamic, and has tremendous potential. Be sure to catch the action of the Knights’ volleyball team as it is sure to be in competition for a repeat of the
Golden Valley Conference Championship!
