"Outstanding Recruits"

This year's Shasta College Wrestling team could be a very formidable group with a number of outstanding recruits that have been developed in their high school wrestling programs from within the Northern Section CIF. With 16 wrestlers on the team roster it is imperative that injuries are kept to a minimum. Returnees are Ty McDaniel, Shane Harvey, Nick Ray, Jake Bridges and Tim Wallace. Bridges and Wallace are qualifiers from the 2006 California Community College State Tournament with Bridges placing 7th at the tournament in the 157 pound weight class. Outstanding freshmen candidates are Matt Thomas, Kyle Sandate, Derek Rottenberg and Jayson Welborn.
Three other outstanding wrestlers that are expected to make a large contribution are transfers Kevin Clay from Southwestern Oregon Community College and from Division I schools Hashem Mirlohi, CSU Bakersfield and Robert Miller, CSU Fresno.
