Textbook:

There is no printed textbook associated with this online course and no need to visit the bookstore. The online Lessons contain all needed learning material. This on-line system gives the student the possibility of printing the complete Lessons in a very elegant PDF format via a printer connected to the computer. This is strongly recommended so the student will have a printed reference to be used while working on online assignments or tests.

Instead, the student will purchase access to the required material which will be used via the online course management system adopted by Shasta College (WebCT).

Important :
The student does not need to make the purchase at the time of enrollment. In fact, since there is a no-refund policy for the purchase of the electronic-access code, the publishers allow the students to use the system freely for about two weeks so as to help them decide if it is compatible with their learning styles. About fifteen days into the course, the WebCT system will prompt the request to enter the access code if the student wants to continue with the class. It is at this point that the student needs to make the actual purchase.

This purchase should be done through the publisher's website, typing the ISBN for this product: 1-59757-089-3 in the “Student’s purchase course” box.

Complete the required form and submit it. After approval of the purchase, you will be prompted the access code you purchased and C.O.D. will also send you a confirmation e-mail with it.

Calculator:

The course access also comes with an "on-screen" calculator required for the class. The student will be able to download it directly from the homepage of the course. This is the only calculator allowed for the class. Since the goal of this course is the mastering of Algebraic techniques and procedures, the use of calculators or software that do the Algebra for the student are NOT ALLOWED, and their use is to be considered as cheating and dealt under Shasta College Math Department's regulations on such matters.
